Equity in Education

In partnership with Practicing Musician and NEMC

If you’re like most music educators:

  • You need to fundraise.

  • Your students need instruments.

Why not offer your students a high quality instrument rental program that earns cash grants for YOUR music program?

Give A Note joined forces with Practicing Musician and NEMC to make music instruction accessible and equitable for all students.

Practicing Musician believes in equity in music education. The PM Equity in Education Rental Program has committed to donate the majority of profit from each rental purchase to the student’s school as a charitable grant through Give A Note Foundation to help fund your music program.

How It Works

Rental Program FAQs

FAQ

Does Practicing Musician rent the instruments?
No, Practicing Musician chose to partner with the rental company National Educational Music Company (NEMC) because of their deep commitment to renting quality instruments since 1957. Over 60 years later, NEMC’s A+ reviews make them a continued leader for instrument rentals. CLICK to read reviews.

What instruments are available?
Shop from home to access NEMC’s large inventory of teacher approved, quality musical instruments in new or like new condition such as trumpets, clarinets, trombones, flutes, saxophones, violins, violas, cellos, drums and many more. Educators across the country give NEMC an A+ for our quality brands, which are expertly cleaned and maintained for optimum playability and safety backed by service, exchange and purchase options, all at an affordable price.

Is shipping free?
Yes, shipping is always free!

What if a repair or adjustment is needed?
In the unlikely event your instrument needs repair or adjustment, just request a free prepaid return label from NEMC and bring your instrument in its original container to any UPS drop-off location. NEMC will take care of the rest and in just a few days your instrument will back in your hands ready to play (next day expedited repair service available in select areas).

How much money does my school get?
Your school will receive a portion of every rental or purchase, starting at $4 per rental instrument per month, or more depending on the instrument. Practicing Musician and NEMC will provide the funding to Give A Note, a nonprofit foundation promoting music education, which will provide grants to each participating public school. Your cash grants can add up fast!
